Ingredients

  • 8 tbsp. oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 tbsp. all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp. light soy sauce
  • 1 cup vegetable broth
  • 1 pinch dried sageoptional
  • 0.5 tbsp. nutritional yeastoptional
  • salt
  • black pepper, ground

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Saute onion and garlic until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
  2. Stir in flour, nutritional yeast, and soy sauce to form a smooth paste.
  3. Gradually whisk in the broth.
  4. Season with sage, salt, and pepper.
  5. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat, and simmer, stirring constantly, for 8 to 10 minutes, or until thickened.
